    I'm working through a book exercise to generate some random serial number, and here's my function: NSString *randomSerialNumber = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%c%c%c%c%c", '0' + random() % 10, 'A' + random() % 26, '0' + random() % 10, 'A' + random() % 26, '0' + random() % 10]; This works and has an output like: 2J6X7. But before, the 0s and As I had wrapped in double quotes, and an example output was 11764iÒ˜. What did I do wrong my first time around, and why did using single quotes fix it?

  • displaying mac address in right format

    Hi, I am obtaining the mac(hw) address of an interface using CWNetwork. Now OS X gives me this mac address in the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx format. But if the first digit is 0, OS X will output the address as 4:aa:dd:ee:34:40, instead of 04:aa:dd:ee:34:40. Now I am trying to take this string 4:aa:dd:ee:34:40 and convert it to 04:aa:dd:ee:34:40 before displaying it. Any ideas ? APpreciate the help.

    List1 contains a high number (~7^10) of N-dimensional points (N <=10), List2 contains the same or fewer number of N-dimensional points (N <=10). My task is this: I want to check which point in List2 is closest (euclidean distance) to a point in List1 for every point in List1 and subsequently perform some operation on it. I have been doing it the simple- the nested loop way when I didn't have more than 50 points in List1, but with 7^10 points, this obviously takes up a lot of time. What is the fastest way to do this? Any concepts from Computational Geometry might help?

  • How to effectively execute this cron job?

    I have a table with 200 rows. I'm running a cron job every 10 minutes to perform some kind of insert/update operation on the table. The operation needs to be performed only on 5 rows at a time every time the cron job runs. So in first 10 mins records 1-5 are updated, records 5-10 in the 20th minute and so on. When the cron job runs for the 20th time, all the records in the table would have been updated exactly once. This is what is to be achieved at least. And the next cron job should repeat the process again. The problem: is that, every time a cron job runs, the insert/update operation should be performed on N rows (not just 5 rows). So, if N is 100, all records would've been updated by just 2 cron jobs. And the next cron job would repeat the process again. Here's an example: This is the table I currently have (200 records). Given the arrays: int canvas[10][10]; int addon[10][10]; Where all the values range from 0 - 100, what is the fastest way in C++ to add those two arrays so each cell in canvas equals itself plus the corresponding cell value in addon. IE, I want to achieve something like: canvas += another; So if canvas[0][0] =3 and addon[0][0] = 2 then canvas[0][0] = 5 Speed is essential here as I am writing a very simple program to brute force a knapsack type problem and there will be tens of millions of combinations.

I tried changing the code instead of using the if loop I only run the convert function when I send for example t through the serial monitor, this works fine and outputs the correct timet after the execution of the convert function, So I figured the problem is in the if loop... Any ideas?

Yes, I realize there's useless code there with setBounds(), but that was just me screwing around with Absolute Positioning, which wasn't working out for me either.

  • Finding the digit root of a number

    Study question is to find the digit root of a already provided number. The teacher provides us with the number 2638. In order to find the digit root you have to add each digit separately 2 + 6 + 3 + 8 = 19. Then you take the result 19 and add those two digits together 1 + 9 = 10. Do the same thing again 1 + 0 = 1. The digit root is 1. My first step was to use the variable total to add up the number 2638 to find the total of 19. Then I tried to use the second while loop to separate the two digits by using the % I have to try and solve the problem by using basic integer arithmetic (+, -, *, /). 1.Is it necessary and or possible to solve the problem using nested while loops? 2.Is my math correct? 3. As I wrote it here it does not run in Eclipse. I know how to make a simple label in bold: plot(1:10, xlab="") mtext(text="10 points", side=1, font=2, line=3) Thanks to this answer, I know how to make a label with a power of ten but nothing is in bold: mtext(text=expression(paste(10^4, " points")), side=1, font=2, line=3) Thanks to this answer, I also know how to make a label with a Greek letter in bold: mtext(text=expression(bold(paste(beta, "=", 10^1, " points"))), side=1, line=3) But still the power of ten is not in bold!     I have a grid of 30 buttons, and I want to have it from left to right then goes down, right to left, down again left to right.     I must admit that the data.table J syntax confuses me. I am attempting to use list() to extract a subset of a data.table as a data.table object as described in Section 1.4 of the data.table FAQ, but I can't get this behavior to work inside of a function. I can associate an open with menu with the file type, now when I already have the program working, how to open the new file into another tab, instead of new program. How to find the already running process exactly, not with the name and send the filename to it. Let me make myself clear: I want my app to be single instance, so that when user select 10 text files and press enter key, my application will open all the 10 text files into 10 tabs, instead of creating 10 processes. How to do that? How to communicate between various instances of the same process. EDIT SOLVED: Implemented the functionality using WM_COPYDATA in C# and the SingleApplication class from codeproject.

    Two tables 1) product -------------------- id | Name | price 1 | p1 | 10 2 | p2 | 20 3 | p3 | 30 2) product_attributes: --------------------------------------------------- id | product_id | attribute_name | attribute_value --------------------------------------------------- 1 | 1 | size | 10 2 | 1 | colour | red 3 | 2 | size | 20 I need to join these two tables. In the where clause I need to match both the two rows attribute values. Is it possible to get the result based on two rows value. Here if size=10 and colour=red. Output should be 1 | p1 | 10 It could be greatly helpful to get a query for this.
